MACASPECS
Privacy Notice
How MACASPECS handles personal information on this website and, when connected, through its practice systems.
Development notice: This page is a website template for the MACASPECS project. It should be reviewed and completed against the actual business, systems, vendors and legal obligations before the site is published.
1. Who we are
MACASPECS is the practice responsible for the personal information collected through this website for its own website, booking and patient-service purposes. Replace this wording with the practice’s exact registered legal entity and Information Officer details before publication.
2. Information we may collect
Depending on the service you use, this may include your name, contact details, account details, appointment information, communications and information you choose to provide. If the future patient portal or clinical systems process health information, that information must be handled under the applicable requirements for health information and POPIA.
3. AI Frame Fitting
The website may offer a virtual frame-fitting experience. A selfie or other image used for fitting is personal information. The final production system should clearly explain the purpose, retention period, storage location, service providers and whether the image is deleted after fitting. Do not upload real patient images to the current front-end demo.
4. Why we process information
Information may be used to respond to enquiries, manage appointments, provide requested services, manage accounts, operate the website, improve security and provide practice services. Any additional purposes should be stated clearly before information is collected.
5. Sharing
Information should only be shared with service providers or other parties where there is a lawful basis and appropriate safeguards. When MACASPECS is connected to OptoGalaxy or other service providers, the final privacy notice should identify the relevant categories of providers and explain their role.
6. Retention and security
MACASPECS should keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose or as required by applicable law, and should use appropriate technical and organisational safeguards. The final policy should be reviewed against the actual hosting, database, backups and access controls.
7. Your rights
POPIA provides rights relating to personal information, including rights concerning access, correction and objection in applicable circumstances. Requests should be directed to the practice’s designated contact/Information Officer.
8. Contact
